Today marks the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which upholds and protects the freedom, dignity and equality of all people. Every single person has rights - this is the essence of our humanity.

Secure access to justice

UN states will this week vote on adoption of new international law providing justice for people whose economic, social or cultural rights have been violated and who cannot get a remedy in their own countries. We are calling on our Government to support this historic legislation.

We are renewing our call for restoration of the permit system for access to Northern Territory Aboriginal communities after the Senate voted down parts of a Government Bill that would have reinstated it last week.

From fast death to slow death: Life in the camps

Our Refugee Coordinator, Dr Graham Thom, recently visited Palestinian refugee camps on the Syria-Iraq border as part of an eight country delegation of NGOs.

Civilians in eastern DRC need action now

We sent a mission to the DRC to assess the human rights impact of the current conflict. The team met with refugees in Uganda and visited those affected by the conflict in and around Goma. The team are now back in Europe preparing their report which will be available soon.
