US Congressional Committee passes "Comfort Women" resolution
The US Foreign Affairs Congressional Committee has passed a "comfort women" resolution sending a strong message to the Japanese Government. The bill calls on the Government of Japan to "formally acknowledge, apologise, and accept historical responsibility in a clear and unequivocal manner for its Imperial Armed Force's coercion of young women into sexual slavery."
Amnesty International urges the US House of Representatives to adopt the bill unanimously and expediently. AI is calling on all governments, including the Australian Government to pass similar resolutions. Read more.
