The what, where and why of the Guantánamo Bay cell

Come and experience the reality of how David Hicks has spent much of the past five years as a prisoner in Guantánamo Bay - locked up for 22 hours a day in a detention cell 1.8 metres wide and 2.4 metres long.

A full-scale replica of a typical Guantánamo Bay cell has been built by Amnesty International Australia and is travelling to more than thirty locations throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and South Australia.

Find out when and where the cell will be near you!

Complete with glaring lights, a stainless steel toilet and bunk bed, the replica cell will give everyone an idea of what it must be like for Guantánamo Bay detainees.

Get involved and experience life in a detention cell

What is happening to David Hicks and other detainees at Guantánamo Bay contravenes international law and is a breach of human rights.

Come along to the replica cell and imagine what it must be like for the detainees in solitary confinement, facing blank walls while the days, months and years pass by.

Take action: While you are visiting the cell please voice your concern about David Hicks and Guantánamo Bay.

Visit the campaign website.

Make your voice heard: Record your own video message

You can also record your own video message from inside the replica cell, which will go on our special campaign website.

Tell everyone via your video message why you think David Hicks should receive a fair trial and why human rights need to be restored to detainees in Guantánamo Bay.
