As the heartbeat of the Amnesty movement, you need to know where we’re going.
That’s why I’ve created this short video message to show just how your support will make a difference, as I outline our top level plans for the coming months. This is a message just for you, our most valued grassroots supporters, featuring information you won’t find anywhere else.
In celebrating half a century of Amnesty International, we’ve talked a bit recently about where we’ve come from. Now it’s time to focus on what we can achieve together in the immediate months ahead – both in Australia and right around the world.
As Director of Amnesty International Australia, I’ve met survivors of torture. I’ve seen the despair inside refugee detention centres. And I’ve been privileged to be welcomed onto sacred traditional Indigenous homelands. From where I stand, the secret to Amnesty’s success over the last 50 years is that we act, understanding that we are all connected.
We act knowing we can’t always control external events, but we always have the choice to stand up, or stay silent. To help change the course of history, or just observe it. To give hope, or give in.
